Important: After deleting files it is important to empty the Recycle Bin. Each user can clear their own by right-clicking the icon on their Desktop and then clicking Empty Recycle Bin.
I. How to clean up QuickBooks Files

- Open a File Explorer window (folder icon on the Task Bar)
- Click This PC on the left-hand side
- Navigate to where you store your QuickBooks Company file(s)
- Company Files will usually be located in your Shared Data location
- Locate any files starting with “QBTempBackup” followed by a date and delete them.
- These files will show where you create backups so you might need to navigate to a subfolder of “Company Files”
- Look for any old backups that you no longer need on the server and either delete them or move them to another location (workstation, external hard drive, flash drive, etc.)
II. How to clean up Sage 50 files

- Open a File Explorer window (folder icon on the Task Bar)
- Navigate to where you store your Sage 50 Backup files
- Look for any old backups that you no longer need on the server and either delete them or move them to another location (workstation, external hard drive, flash drive, etc.)
III. How to clean up user files
- Have each user open a File Explorer window
- On the left click Documents and determine what can be deleted/moved off the server
- Click Downloads and determine what can be deleted/moved off the server
- Click Desktop to determine what can be deleted/moved off the server
