Adding Printer Drivers To A Server

These steps can be performed by a Server Admin or Summist Hosting Support. 

1. Download the driver package from the vendor's website to the server's desktop
2. Launch the driver package but do not install it
3. Open Task Manager by right-clicking the taskbar and selecting Task Manager
4. Go to the Processes tab then right-click Driver entry and select Open file location
5. Copy the file location / URL
6. Open Print Management:
   • For Server 2008
     1. Go to Control Panel
     2. Click Printers
     3. Click the Server Properties button
     4. Select the Drivers tab
     5. Click Add Server 
   • For Server 2012/2016 -
     1. Click Start
     2. Click Administrative Tools
     3. Click Print Management
     4. Expand Print Servers and Computer
     5. Right-click Drivers
     6. Click Add Driver
     7. Click Next
     8. Click Have Disk… 
7. Paste in the location of the driver you downloaded
8. Click Next
9. Reboot the server to ensure the driver is installed properly.
