To manually browse to a QuickBooks company file, follow these steps:
1. Launch QuickBooks and get to the "No Company Open" or "Welcome to QuickBooks Desktop" window (if you see the "Let's set up your business" window, close it)
2. Choose "Open an existing company file" / "Open a company file".
3. This should open up a browser window that's looking for a .QBW file. At the top where it says "Look in:" click the down arrow and choose "SummitHosting (C:)" which is the server's C drive (it may possibly be labeled as "Local Disk (C:)".
4. From there just browse to wherever your company file (.qbw file) resides. The default location is: C:\Users\Public\Documents\Intuit\QuickBooks\Company Files
The QuickBooks company file (.qbw) will be the only file where its small icon has a lime-greenish tint to it. If you are still unable to figure out which file to open, use the "Date modified" and "Type" columns to help decipher which is the QuickBooks Company File.
